By Our Reporter After the government appointed Home Secretary Eaknarayan Aryal to the post of Chief Secretary, the senior secretaries became unhappy. Two of them have reportedly tendered their resignation. They included Secretary Toya Narayan Gyawali from the National Planning Commission and Secretary Dinesh Bhattarai from the Ministry of Women, Children, and Social Welfare. Both of them resigned following Aryal’s appointment. Gyawali, who was the most senior secretary and ranked first among all secretaries, and Bhattarai, who ranked third, were dissatisfied with the decision to appoint Aryal, who was ranked fourth. Aryal succeeded Lila Devi Gadtaula who retired on August 31 on the age ground. A meeting of the Council of Ministers held at the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar on Thursday last week decided to appoint Aryal to the top post of civil service. Gadtaula, appointed on July 25 as Chief Secretary, was the first female Chief Secretary in Nepal. Dr. Gyawali and Bhattarai were other contenders for the position of the Chief Secretary.
