The Russian library has actively engaged with the Nepalese community through in-person and online services, for over four decades. It has been a hub for connecting with various user groups, from intellectuals and researchers to students and enthusiasts from both local and foreign communities.
Visitors can be seen exploring various aspects of Russian culture, language, science, technology, and more. By engaging with these individuals, their preferences, interests, feelings, hopes, dreams, and dedication towards learning become evident.
The library is always bustling with people utilizing our vast array of resources for college assignments, research projects, or simply seeking knowledge. There are also regular visitors who come to relax and leisurely read fiction books or enjoy the atmosphere. Over time, they have become regular members drawn by their love for the place and its environment.
Moreover, those who are specifically preparing to study in Russia are prioritizing the learning of the Russian language to improve their skills. They actively use resources such as videos, audio recordings, exercise books, grammar guides, and dictionaries. The library also hosts various in-house events for students of Russian language courses to immerse themselves in the culture and language fully.
Likewise, authors often gather at the library to share their works and opinions. Gifted editions signed by renowned writers are part of our exclusive collection. The educational resources available specifically for children are interesting and enjoyable for them.
Retired individuals from various professions frequently visit the library to stay updated on current affairs through newspapers and magazines.
The Russian House in Kathmandu collaborates with partner organizations or hosts events regularly. During these programs, visitors often stop by the library to inquire about different topics related to Russia. The library warmly welcomes their curiosity and eagerness to explore more about Russia. Their keen interest in learning about the country is greatly appreciated.
As a librarian at the Russian House, I have the privilege of interacting with both regular users and first-time visitors daily. The appreciation and compliments from regular users over the years are overwhelming, while new visitors often come eager to ask questions and engage in conversations. This diverse interaction with library users has helped foster a supportive and enjoyable atmosphere.
Through observing and understanding the interests, emotions, aspirations, and proactive approach of diverse visitors, it is obvious that the Russian library has strengthened communication and interaction among the Nepalese communities.
In addition to serving physical visitors, the library also interacts with users through social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. These channels offer updates on library activities, platforms for feedback, and glimpses into its extensive collection through short videos and pictures.
