Kathmandu, 3 November: India has provided over 200 vehicles to Nepal for use during the upcoming elections. In a ceremony organized at the Ministry of Finance, Ambassador of India to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, on behalf of Government of India, handed over 200 vehicles to Finance Minister Janardan Sharma as a gift of India for logistical support to various Nepali institutions for conduct of elections. "These vehicles are being handed over at the request of Government of Nepal for utilization during elections, of which 120 vehicles are for the utilization by security forces and 80 vehicles are for the utilization by Election Commission of Nepal. These vehicles would prove to be useful in further augmenting the logistical arrangements of various institutions of Nepal across the country for conducting the polls, "said the Indian envoy. Till date, more than 2400 vehicles have been gifted to various Nepali institutions for support during elections, including approximately 2000 vehicles to Nepal Police and Armed Police Forces and around 400 vehicles to Nepali Army and Election Commission. India and Nepal enjoy multi-faceted and multi-sectoral development partnership that is reflective of the closeness of the people of both countries.
