Kathmandu, 21 October: American Ambassador to Nepal Ambassador Dean R. Thompson presented his credentials to President  Bidya Devi Bhandari, at her office in Sheetal Niwas this afternoon. Issuing a statement after presenting his credentials to the President he said, " It is an honor to serve as U.S. Ambassador to Nepal. I am humbled by the opportunity and determined to serve with an unwavering commitment to the U.S. – Nepal relationship, one that is based on respect for sovereignty and common values." "Right now is an important moment for our countries, and I look forward to working with all Nepalis to address the most pressing issues of our time. In the coming years, the United States will continue to support Nepal in achieving its goal of sustainable and inclusive economic growth. As the climate crisis impacts the Himalayan region, we will help bolster Nepal’s climate resilience through innovative programming and partnership. Finally, working with civil society, free media, and government, our countries will continue defending democracy and strengthening the will of the people, free from corruption, disinformation, and repression," reads the statement. He has further observed, "In our 75th year of U.S. – Nepal diplomatic relations, I look ahead to my tenure with immense optimism that the successes of the next 75 years will surpass even the greatest achievements of our last."
