Kathmandu, 10 October: The Maoist Center chairman Pushpakamal Dahal filed his candidature from the Gorkha 2 electoral constituency for the election of the federal parliament member on 9 October.  Chairman Prachanda, in search of a safe electoral constituency, has reached Gorkha 2, from where Dr Baburam Bhattarai is continuously being elected. Bhattarai didn’t file candidature this time.  Bhattarai had quit Janata Samajbadi Party and returned to the mother party Maoist Center.  Earlier, Bhattarai, blaming Prachanda for being a corrupt leader, had quit the party, however, this time, he has even become ready to hand over his home constituency to Prachanda. It is believed that Prachanda has assured Bhattarai for making him the President of the country and giving an election ticket to his daughter Manushi Bhattarai Yemi. Manushi is contesting the election from Kathmandu No 7 electoral constituency for the federal parliament member. Why Prachanda left his home constituency? With the fear of defeat, Prachanda has left his home constituency Chitwan 3. Prachanda constructed a house in Chitwan 3 and he tried his best to ensure his victory.  But the dissident group in the Nepali Congress, which is very strong in Chitwan, warned the party leadership of a revolt in Chitwan if the Nepali Congress will give the ticket to the Maoist Center. During the local election, Prachanda’s daughter Renu Dahal was elected following an alliance among the five parties. The NC cadres in Chitwan had said that if they support the Maoist Center in the local election, the latter should support the NC candidate in the federal parliament election. NC cannot vote for other party’s candidates, again and again, they had warned.  Also, some influential leaders in Chitwan quit the Maoist Center party, from which Prachanda lost his confidence.  Meanwhile, his closest rival Bikram Pandey from RPP is an influential candidate in Chitwan. In the 2017 election, Prachanda, through an alliance with the UML defeated Pandey only by 9341 votes. Pandey has again filed his candidature from Chitwan 3 constituency.  Also, a section of youths is trying to create a wave to defeat those candidates who have already ruled the country. Prachanda took it as a serious threat. Of late, Prachanda has wished to become the prime minister after becoming a member of parliament. It is believed that the Maoist Center is emerging as the key party in the formation of the new government.  People's News Monitoring Service
