Acting SC chief justice Karki gets retirement
Kathmandu, 25 September: Supreme Court (SC) acting Chief Justice Deepak Kumar Karki has got retirement without becoming the chief justice.
Karki will retire on October 3 due to the age limit of 65 years. As the courts including the Supreme Court will remain closed from 26 September till 9 October due to the Dasain holidays, Karki was bidden farewell today.
CJ Cholendra Shumsher Rana has been suspended since an impeachment case has been filed against him on 13 February, Karki assumed office as the acting CJ. After Parliament was dissolved without finalizing the impeachment case, Rana, according to the constitution of the country, decided to go to the office explaining that he had been freed from the case, is facing an unannounced house arrest.
After Rana was suspended, Karki had become the acting chief justice, however, he was unable to become the chief justice.
