Kathmandu, 12 September: The Salt Trading Corporation (STC), established with the objective of regularizing the distribution of salt within the country has entered 60th year of its service from today. It has been contributing to ensure proper supply and distribution of essential daily consumable goods and control black-marketing in the country.

The STC, established in 1963 by incorporating all traders involved in the salt business as shareholders to ensure the supply of common salt (since salt is not produced in Nepal and the country depends on import from India and China) for all citizens throughout the country. 

Recalling its dedicated service to the nation, STC claimed that it has made significant contributions to ensure proper supply and distribution of essential daily consumable goods, control black-marketing and industrial development in Nepal.

The state-owned STC has currently been providing its services through 93 offices that cover nearly the entire  population of the country as customers.
