How a nation will rise and fall, let’s look back at our own country’s history. A nation moving forward towards prosperity has been destroyed on all fronts. Economic development is the main pillar for the prosperity of a nation but our economic pillars have already been demolished. We don’t have items to export but we are importing almost all items, including agricultural products, which, we were exporting until the end of the panchayat days. We had many industries run by the government giving employment to thousands of people within the country. Nepal was also exporting some industrial products including the Gorakhkali Tyres. Today, Nepal has become a country exporting low-price labour force in the international labour market and it has become the major source of earning foreign currency. Along with the introduction of the multiparty democracy, the corruption trend flourished and we always lauded for curbing corruption. The main reasons for launching the Maoist “people’s war” was rampant corruption practice initiated by the political leaders, and massive exploitation of the people by the democratic rulers, among others. Whether the Maoist leaders who had launched the bloody insurgency in the country can repeat the 36-point memorandum submitted to the then prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba earlier to launch their armed insurgency, is a burning question. Today, both forces have become partners to rule the nation or say loot the nation. Again, Deuba is the prime minister and Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda, supreme commander of the insurgency, is the key player in the functioning of the present coalition government. We cannot see any ideological difference among the supreme leaders in the five-party alliance. The congresses have become communists and the communists have become the congresses. There is no difference in the political principles between the two parties. Not odd, NC cadres are voting for the Maoist candidates and Maoist cadres are voting for the NC candidates. When political leaders forget ethics, values and principles, and run behind corruption and commission, nothing will remain unethical. When the leaders forget their fundamental political principle, they become cheaters, frauds and looters. This is the real picture of Nepal. The security force is hope for safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty, independence and freedom but we are unable to find this hope in any corner of the country. The other hope is the people but they are in a deep sleep. We are at a crossroads whether we will be able to save this country or not; whether people will awake against the present anomalies and launch yet another revolution, we are unable to predict. If looked the present gloomy scenario of the country, we believe, the security forces should initiate an action to save the country, otherwise, we expect, the people should awake to save their motherland. The question remains, whether it is possible shortly before it is too late!
