By Our Reporter  The problem of garbage management has been deepening in Kathmandu after the leaders of the ruling parties in the landfill site of Bancharedanda have been creating an obstruction. A few leaders of the ruling parties have stopped the vehicles carrying city garbage to the landfill site putting forth unreasonable demands. When a meeting of the top leaders of the ruling five parties held in Baluwatar on Sunday decided to suggest the government immediately manage the garbage problem of Kathmandu, the local leaders of the same parties in Dhading issued a notice that they would permanently close the Bancharedanda landfill site. Of course, the political parties themselves have created the problem in an attempt to fail Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah, who defeated their candidates. But when the situation worsened, the parties in the ruling coalition are now in soup as the government has failed to clear the road to the landfill site. When a few locals continued to obstruct the road and when the city turned into a dumping site with heaps of garbage everywhere, the government on Tuesday mobilized the police and a clash erupted between locals and police. Police had to fire in the air and use teargas to disperse the agitating locals. Indeed, it is the responsibility of the government to provide security to vehicles carrying garbage. Recently, the locals in Nuwakot vandalised several vehicles, and they catapulted the vehicles and their drivers.
