Cabinet meeting is set for today; will election date be announced?
Kathmandu, 1 August: The meeting of the cabinet of ministers has been called for today at the PM’s official residence in Baluatar.
As it has already been delayed for announcing the date for the provincial and federal parliament elections, there is a strong possibility of deciding the election date by today's cabinet meeting.
The Election Commission is putting pressure on the government for announcing the election date earliest as possible as the Commission needs time for election preparation.
The commission had proposed the election date for 18 November, however, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is in a mood for holding elections on 20 November.
The delayed announcement is related to the transfer and appointments of the government officials before the election period, said a source.
