
Kathmandu, 26 July: How corruption occurs at the local level is enough to see an incident in Janakpur sub-metropolitan city. People's representatives have prepared details of eating 803 kg of meat during the two-day municipal assembly program. Rs 710,000 has been spent on it. And Rs 125,000 has been paid to the cook.
The Auditor General's data confirms that this amount was spent on meat without even revealing the details of those present in the Municipal Assembly. According to the data, the participants of the Municipal Council have eaten 653 kg of goat meat at the rate of Rs. 1,000.
This is just one example of irregularities within Janakpurdham sub-metropolitan city. Widespread corruption and irregularities in the financial transactions of the fiscal year 2077/78 have been made public. The Auditor General's data shows that Rs142,000 was spent on purchasing 360 saffron towels for the participants in the Municipal Assembly, while 790,000 was spent separately on snacks and cold drinks.
