Kathmandu, 21 July: Minister for Education, Science, and Technology Devendra Poudel has said that Nepal is strongly committed to a non-aligned foreign policy.  Addressing an interaction programme organized by the Russian House, Kathmandu and Nepal-Russia Friendship and Cultural Association on 20 July, Minister Shrestha said that the non-aligned foreign policy is appropriate for Nepal's prosperity.  In the interaction programme organized on the occasion of the 66th anniversary of the establishment of Nepal-Russia diplomatic relations, the Minister lauded different dimensions of Nepal-Russia relations.  On 20 July 1956, during King Mahendra’s rule, Nepal and the then USSR (present Russia) established diplomatic relations between the two countries.  Milan Tuladhar, ambassador proposed for Russia by Nepal, informed that Nepal’s prosperity and development are possible only from a non-aligned foreign policy.  Tuladhar opined that Nepal should take benefit from the Uresia cooperation model initiated by Russia.  He expressed his commitment for transforming this modality into practice.  People's News Monitoring Service
