Kathmandu, 7 July: Former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has said that Nepal should move ahead declaring it a zone of peace to maintain balance with India and China. He has mentioned that Nepal cannot move forward on the path of development without maintaining balance with the southern and northern neighbours.
Addressing a program organized at Thames College this afternoon, Bhattarai said that only a policy of linking India and China would be in the best interest of Nepal.
"We are between India and China. If India becomes the third economy and China the first, we cannot develop our country without coordination with them. We should be able to take a policy of growth. Therefore, Nepal should declare a zone of peace so that we can have confidence in the value-added economy of India and China and move forward with a policy of maintaining peace with both," he said.
