
Kathmandu, 26 June: A motor bridge being built on Jhorung River in Bigu Rural Municipality-4 of Dolakha has collapsed. The bridge, which was to be handed over after construction in mid-June, was currently being prepared for remaining cement works. The Bigu Municipality had asked the concerned company to stop the construction two weeks ago on the suspicion that a part of the bridge had been inclined.
Saroj Khadka, chief sub-engineer of the technical branch of the municipality, said that the construction work was stopped due to fear that a part of the bridge would collspse. "Our suspicion has turned into reality," he said. Usage of substandard contruction material is reported to be the cause of collapse.
