Out of 753 local bodies, 700 present budget on 10 Asar
Kathmandu, 25 June: Out of 753 local bodies, 700 local bodies have presented the budget for the new fiscal year 2022/23 on the given deadline, 10 Asar (24 June). Due to different reasons, 53 local bodies could not present the budget by the given deadline.
Local bodies should compulsorily present the budget for the new fiscal year by 10 Asar according to the constitutional provision.
All six metropolitan cities, 10 out of 11 sub-metropolitan cities, and 248 municipalities out of 276 have presented the budget for the new fiscal year on 25 June.
Similarly, out of 460 rural municipalities, 435 have presented the budget for the new fiscal year.
Due to the dispute between the mayor and deputy mayor, non-cooperation from the municipality assembly, absence of the accountant and the administrative officers, the remaining local bodies were unable to present the budget on time.
