Kathmandu, 25 June: After pressure from all sides, the government is compelled to reduce the price of petrol and diesel effective from midnight today.  The government has announced to reduce 20 rupees per litre of petrol and 28 rupees per litre of diesel.  By organizing a sudden press conference today, Minister for Supplies, Industry and Commerce Dilendra Badu announced the new tariff on petroleum products.  Earlier, Minister Badu was justifying the petroleum price hike due to the price hike in the international market. However, after opposition from all sectors and the Parliamentarian Committee, the government has been compelled to reduce the price of petroleum products.  The Parliamentarian Committee for Commerce, Industry, Labour and Consumers’ Welfare on Friday had instructed to remove 50 percent of the government tax imposed on petroleum products.  According to the new tariff, petrol price will be 179 rupees per litre, whereas, the diesel price will be 163 rupees per litre.  People’s News Monitoring Service
