Kathmandu, 15 May: Comparatively, the local elections on Friday were held peacefully across the country. However, there was an absence of enthusiasm among the voters and there was less participation from the youths. Compared to the previous elections held five years ago, vote casting has declined by around 10 percent as the Election Commission is claiming that the vote casting this time is around 65 percent and it can reach up to 70 percent after concluding the voting in all local bodies.  In Kathmandu, voting has declined to 55 percent, which is comparatively low. Youths were found campaigning for the independent and youth candidates.  The overall scenario indicates that voters are not satisfied with the political parties, youths are dissatisfied with the present political system and they are seeking alternatives to the present political system.  People’s News Monitoring Service
