By Our Reporter  The Rastriya Prajatantra Party is likely to improve its performance in the upcoming local polls. With Rajendra Lingden’s election as its new chairman, the RPP has received new lease of life. Its impression in masses has grown significantly in recent months. Moreover, after Kamal Thapa quit the party, the entire party is in the grip of Lingden and his activities have energized the party. It is evident from the fact that the party had fielded its popular candidates in many local levels without forging alliance while break-away faction Kamal Thapa decided to contest poll taking UML’s symbol but he was denied chief in any local level. But RPP has fielded popular faces like Madandas Shrestha in Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Giris Giri in Birgung Metropolis and Ram Thapa in Damak. Moreover, Thapa in Damak is backed by ruling alliance while the ruling alliance has forged electoral alliance with UML against the RPP candidates in two local levels of Jhapa. Likewise, the RPP has backed UML candidate in Bharatpur. Of course, it was only Lingden who had succeeded to get elected to the House of Representatives in 2017 elections and his supporters had won the elections in two local levels in Jhapa. This time, the RPP has fielded more candidates than the Maoist Centre and CPN (Unified Socialist). RPP’s anti-corruption slogan attracts general public The general public who has been fade-up from rampant corruption is watching the Rashtriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) with hope. When RPP chairman Rajendra Lingden gave the slogan for ending corruption, he has become a figure for public attraction. In many places, a huge crowd was seen in the public assemblies in favour of RPP. RPP chairman Lingden has said that corruption practices such as drinking the blood of own mother. He has said that there is no space for corrupt leaders in the party. Also, he has asked RPP candidates for their commitment against corruption practices. Moreover, he has said that politics should be for social service and service to the nation and it never should be an occupation or profession. Hope on Lingden: Since Lingden was elected as the party chairman from the unity national convention of the party, different political organizations campaigning for patriotism, anti-corruption derive and against federalism, republicanism and secularism have merged into the party, which has obviously intensified the party’s political strength. Lingden himself has claimed that the RPP has already become the mainstream political party. Addressing a mass gathering at his home constituency in Kachankabal, Gherabari, Lingden claimed, “RPP has dawned as the mainstream political force.” He said that now a political balance cannot be possible by sidelining RPP. In Kachankabal, RPP had swept away all the seats in the local body. This time also, despite a strong but unholy alliance between the Nepali Congress and UML, Lingden believes, the party candidates will sweep away all the seats in the Kachankabal Rural Municipality. Lingden said that corruption is the main hurdle to the development of the nation. Therefore, corruption has to be eliminated with the commitment of all sectors. Jhapa district is the home constituency for heavy-weight leaders from UML and NC, including K.P. Sharma Oli, Bishwa Prakash Sharma and Krishna Shitaula, nevertheless, Lingden has claimed that Jhapa is the capital city for RPP. It is almost sure that RPP may win the local bodies in Damak, Kachankabal, and Gauradaha in the Jhapa district. As other mainstream parties are losing credibility, RPP has been able to attract the mass and it is hoped that it will tremendously intensify the party presence all over the country.
