Industry and business organisations have complained that after the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA started cutting off power supply without prior information. They also warned of shutting down their industries.
Issuing a press statement, three business organsiations - Morang Merchants' Association, Chamber of Industries Morang and Confederation of Nepalese Industries, Province 1 recently warned to shut down the industry.
According to the industrialists, the raw materials in the process of production will be wasted if the NEA shuts off power supply without making public any schedule.
They objected that there were difficulties in the management of the workers at such time.
They urged the concerned authority to solve the current problem of power supply immediately, citing that the entire production process, including essential commodities, and supply chain will be disrupted if such a situation prolongs.
Entrepreneurs demanded the publishing of a load shedding schedule, maximum utilisation of domestic power generation capacity, equitable distribution of electricity, abolition of demand charges for electricity, among others.
Although Minister for Energy Phampha Bhusal said that the problem would be solved immediately, the entrepreneurs have not been convinced.
