Kathmandu, 30 April: Popular independent candidate for the mayoral post in Byas Municipality in Tanahun, Deepakraj Joshi has chosen “scissor” as his election symbol.  Deepakraj is the son of senior NC leader Govindaraj Joshi, who is being cornered by NC senior leader Ramchandra Poudel.  Deepakraj’s candidature for the mayor’s post has challenged Poudel’s existence in Tanahun politics. From the Joshi faction, Basundhara Gharti of the UML is the candidate for the post of deputy mayor. Joshi has developed an alliance with the UML challenging the five-party alliance.
