The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case against Baikuntha Adhikari, the then secretary of Lumbini Province government and three others for their involvement in corruption.
The CIAA has stated that the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives of the Lumbini Province had inked and agreement with Aadhunik Krishi Kisan Sansar Pvt. Ltd. to supply agricultural machineries made in India to the farmers in the fiscal year 2018/19. But the suppliers supplied low quality Chinese products in the nexus of the secretary and other employees, the CIAA said.
According to the CIAA, Adhikari and others abused government property worth Rs. 4,337,500.
Along with Adhikari, the CIAA filed case against head of Agricultural Mechanisation Programme of the Province Shreedhar Gyawali and Agricultural Officer Mukesh Ramjali.
The CIAA also filed the case against Rajaram Tiwari, managing director of Adhunik Krishi Kisan Sansar, for supplying false products.
According to a statement issued by CIAA Spokesperson Shyam Prasad Bhandari on Tuesday, the CIAA has demanded a fine of Rs. 3,715,000 from each of Adhikari, Gyawali and Ramjali and Rs. 4,337,000 from Tiwari.
Likewise, the CIAA demanded three years imprisonment for Adhikari, Gyawali and Ramjali and two years for Tiwari along with the fine.
