JSP for EC’s recognition Kathmandu, 8 June: The newly merged Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) has applied for the Election Commission’s recognition on Sunday. After announcement of merger of the two parties -- RJP and Samajbadi Party – formal unification process was derailed due to the dispute on sharing power among the senior leaders. After former prime minister Baburam Bhattarai accepted the forth position in the party protocol, the merger process took forma shape. Earlier, Bhattarai’s name was at the second position, however, his name was removed with Tipp-Ex and hand written at the forth number in the application submitted to the EC by the party. Mahanta Thakur and Upendra Yadav are the executive chairmen of the party. Rajendra Mahato and Ashok Rai are senior leaders above Bhattarai in the party. Senior leaders have agreed to keep three chairmen in the party. JSP will have 53 member executive committee in which, 27 from the then RJP and 26 from Socialist Party will represent. To note, there is strong domination of pro-Indian leaders demanding naturalized citizenship to foreigners married to the Nepali citizens and recognizing Hindi as the national language by discarding Maithali, Abadhi and Bhojpuri, native languages in the country.
