PM Oli preparing for his China visit

By Our Reporter
Prime Minister KP Oli is now preparing homework for his upcoming China visit. He is likely to leave for Beijing next week although the government has not yet made public the visit schedule.
Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali has been in Beijing  in course of his visit to Mongolia to attend a regional level meeting of foreign minister. FM Gyawali is said to be making preparations for PM Oli’s China visit.
PM Oli has given high importance to his China visit as he intends to finalise some of the MOUs and other understandings made during his 2016 visit to China. He is likely to sign important agreements with China regarding railways and trade and transit.
During the Indian blockade of 2015/16, Oli had reached important agreements to reduce Nepal’s dependency on India by reaching the sea through China. Likewise, he tried to import fuel from China to avoid crisis during blockade by India. However, he was pulled down then to prevent him from finalising the agreements. Now again he has become powerful PM as he leads a two-thirds majority, he is likely to sign important agreements with the northern neighbour to realise the goal of prosperous Nepal.
Similarly, he is likely to offer a few projects to be built under OBOR agreements reached between Nepal and China. China has already shown interest to build the bridges in Tatopani and  Kerung entry points. Probably, linking Kathmandu with the Chinese railways will be the biggest agreements that would be signed between Nepal and China during Oli’s upcoming visit to China.
The people have to wait two weeks to know how the Chinese leaders trust Oli, especially after his improved relations with Indian Prime Minister Modi in recent months.
