Deepak Manange sent to jail

Independent lawmaker of Provincial Assembly of Province No. 4 Rajiv Gurung, known also as Deepak Manange, was sent to the Dilli Bazaar-based jail onFriday.
Gurung, who had won the election from the Province Assembly ‘B’ constituency of Manang district, had been a fugitive after the police issued a red-corner notice against him.
Upon the order of the Kathmandu District Court (KDC), Gurung was sent to the jail for three years’ imprisonment.
The Patan Appellate Court on August 12, 2012, had slapped a five years’ jailterm for him and his four aides on the charge of murder attempt in which a hand of another don, Chakre Milan, was chopped off by his group.
Gurung had already served two years jail sentence under the same charge.
A special team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Range, Teku, had arrested Gurung from the Swoyambhu area of Kathmandu on April 17.
