India breaches diplomatic norms

Kathmandu, 22 April: India’s hegemonic attitude has not changed despite high level parleys at the level Prime Minister. Hardly two weeks have passed and the promises that were made are broken. In a blatant move, New Delhi has breached all established norms and values of diplomacy with regard to dealing with immediate neighbours. Its ‘Look East and Neighbourhood First’ policy seems to be a farce as its unilateral decision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Nepal is concerned. Kantipur daily from New Delhi reports that Modi has fixed his Nepal visit without due consultations with Nepal. PM Modi’s trip to Kathmandu in the second week of May has created difficulties to the Nepali officials. It is a tactic of Indian PM that his Nepali counterpart KP Oli will not be able to pay a  visit to

China during that period, of which the preparations are underway. PM Oli is in deep dilemma whether to leave for Beijing or wait to welcome Indian Prime Minsiter.
