By Our Reporter The government appointed new Inspector Generals (IGs) in the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force (APF) last week Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Sarbendra Khanal has been appointed to the post of Inspector General of the Nepal Police and AIG Shailendra Khanal to the IGP post of the APF. DIGs Khanal, Ramesh Kharel and Pushkar Karki were in the race for the top post in the Nepal Police. Among them, Khanal was the senior-most in the list. The work performance appraisal report of Khanal, Kharel and Karki could not be prepared as they were promoted to the post of DIG just eight months ago. The work performance appraisal report is normally prepared by the Human Resources Department chief of the Nepal Police only a year after being promoted.  However, President Bidya Devi Bhandari had reportedly exerted pressure on Prime Minister K . P Oli for Karki. In the APF, Shailendra Khanal and DIG Pushparam KC were in the race for the top post. Before the Cabinet appointed the new IGPs, Prime Minister  Oli had consulted Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa and CPN-Maoist Centre chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal regarding the IGPs’ appointment. Outgoing IGP of the Nepal Police Prakash Aryal and IGP Singh Bahadur Shrestha of the APF  retired from the security forces from last Wednesday after completing their 30-year service term.
