CIAA chief Basnyat retires

Chief of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Deep Kumar Basnet retired on the age ground on Monday.
The CIAA bid farewell to Basnet on Monday by organising a function. Basnyat was heading the CIAA after the Supreme Court dismissed the appointment of Lokman Singh Karki some 15 months ago. However, he was appointed chief of the CIAA only in May last year.
CIAA chief and commissioners retire at the age of 65 as per the constitution of Nepal. Basnyat served as commissioner, acting chief and chief of the CIAA for two years and 10 months.
Navin Kumar Ghimire has become acting chief of the CIAA after Basnyat’s retirement.
