On 01 December, the Bangladesh Embassy observed the inclusion of the historic 7th March 1971 Speech by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as part of the world's documentary heritage of the UNESCO Memory of the World International Register.
The Embassy organized a celebratory rally and a discussion programme to mark the occasion in Kathmandu. The Embassy also organized screening of historic 7th March Speech by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Rahman. Some eminent expatriate Bangladesh nationals and Nepali dignitaries participated in the lively discussion on the significance of 7th March Speech by the Father of the Nation and its inclusion in UNESCO Memory of the World International Register. Ms. Mashfee Binte Shams, Ambassador of Bangladesh, summed up their discussion and reiterated that the historic 7th March speech by the Father of the Nation will continue to enthrall our people and will continue to inspire succeeding generations to attain a happy and prosperous ‘Sonar Bangla’ which was dreamed by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The programme was widely attended by large number of expatriate Bangladesh nationals and Nepali dignitaries, including civil society representatives, think tank members, media representatives, members from Nepal-Bangladesh friendship society, Nepal-Bangladesh Chambers of commerce and so on. The UNESCO representative in Nepal also attended the programme.
