By Our Reporter image0012Nepali journalists and academicians as well as Tibetan journalists and academicians discussed on Nepal-Tibet and China relations under new era after the 19th NCCPC in China. Nepal becoming the member of BRI club, Nepal and China's wish to construct railway line from Kerung to Kathmandu, upgrading road connectivity between China's Tibet and Kathmandu, operation of three dry ports in three trade points in Nepal-China borders would develop Tibet as the trade hub, the participants opined. Participants at the conference also discussed about attracting Chinese investments in different areas including in hydropower projects under the BRI project. However, some of the participants expressed serious dissatisfaction on the government attitude of scrapping the deal for constructing Budhigandaki hydropower project with CGGC, a Chinese government undertaking company. They said that such an attitude of the Nepal government may have serious impact in bilateral relations between the two nations. The conference had focused on the 19th NCCPC and the advance of OBOR initiative, what opportunities will they bring to the development of trade between China and Nepal; What opportunities that Tibetans in Nepal have with the stability and prosperity of Tibet and as China’s friendly neighbour, how Nepal utilize China’s rapid development to promote the cultural and economic cooperation between China and Nepal. The conference was jointly organized by China's Tibet Book Store, Kathmandu and Nepali Tianli Publication and Culture Company in Kathmandu.
