The government has decided to conduct a study to build a metro-rail in the Kathmandu Valley.
A recent meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and attended by chairman of the Investment Board Maha Prasad Adhikari decided to conduct a study and prepare the detailed project report (DPR) for developing the metro rail in Kathmandu.
In its feasible study report, the National Planning Commission had stated that two separate metro-rails were possible in the Kathmandu Valley. The study report has proposed setting up ‘service one’ by the Department of Railways (DoRW) and another by the Investment Board.
