RJP leaders file nomination disobeying the leadership instruction to disrupt poll

By Our Reporter
With the filing of nominations by a few influential leaders of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal in Kapilvastu and Rupandehi districts in Province 5, the disputes of the RJP that had officially decided to boycott and disrupt the local polls have come to the fore.
It was the RJP that compelled the government to postpone the local poll in Province 2 for September 8. But when scores of leaders of this party filed nominations as independent candidates, it became clear how the RJP leaders had gone not only against the public aspirations but also against the cadres of their own party.
The RJP leaders and cadres filed nominations in 10 local bodies in Kapilvastu district as independent candidates. Likewise, in  Samarimai Village Council of Rupandehi, the RJP cadres have filed their candidacies.
Although RJP leaders including Mahantha Thakur and Rajendra Mahato were in Bhairahawa on the nomination filing day with the intention of disrupting the nominations, they failed to make their presence feel. Instead, they saw the carders of their party filing nominations there. This revealed how weak the base of the RJP that was formed by merging six Madhes-based parties.
