Salt Trading Corporation, the sole distributor of salt in Nepal, has clarified that there is no scarcity of Salt in the market. Refuting to some media reports, Brajesh Kumar Jha, Departmental Chief of the Corporation said that at present there is stock of one hundred thousand and one hundred thirty-seven metric tons salt with the Corporation and 35 metric tons salt is being imported which is on the way to Nepal.
‘This quantity of salt is sufficient for six months for Nepal’, he said.
He has asked the consumers not to run behind false propaganda. As rumors were spread that there was scarcity of salt in the market and the consumers were buying salt by paying three times double than the actual price. He urged the media to disseminate factual news and cross verify prior to publication and transmission.
