Celebrating ‘Rabindra Nazrul Jayanti’

image001The  Embassy of  Bangladesh in Kathmandu observed ‘Rabindra Nazrul Jayanti’ on 22nd July. Celebrating the 155th birth anniversary of BiswaKabi Rabindranath Tagore and 117th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
The Mission organized a cultural programme to mark the occasion at the Nepal Army Auditorium in Kathmandu. Noted Rabindra Sangeet artist Ms. Audity Mohsin and Nazrul Geeti singer Jannate Romman Tithi presented a mesmerizing show rendering selected songs of Tagore and Nazrul. This was the first time that a show of this stature has been organized in Nepal by the Bangladesh Embassy for an audience comprising of high Nepalese dignitaries, representatives of the civil society, diplomats and other foreign expatriates residing in Kathmandu, representatives of the print and electronic media, officials of the SAARC Secretariat, and members of the Bangladesh community residing in Nepal.
The Nepal Academy of Music and Drama was also associated with the Embassy in the presentation of the programme.
