Although no one can prevent the parliament from discussing the no-trust motion registered against the prime minister, Nepal’s Prime Minister K P Oli wants that the parliament should endorse the bills relating to budget before discussing the no-trust motion.
However, Speaker Onsari Gharti has decided to discuss the no-confidence motion from Thursday without allowing the parliament to discuss the bills. This has angered PM Oli. Ghatri, who represent the CPN-Maoist, is accused of working in favour of her party by deciding to start discussions on the no-trust motion before clearing the passage of bills relating to annual budget.
It was also reported that Maoist Centre chief Pushpa Kamal Dahal wanted to obstruct the bills after PM Oli rejected to step down even after losing majority in the parliament. This has increased the enmity between Dahal and Oli. Many argue that Oli wants to prevent Dahal from becoming next prime minister at any cost. This was why he proposed NC senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel to become the new PM.
However, Oli will not be able to stop Dahal from reaching the top post until NC’s president Sher Bahadur Deuba backs Dahal. Now many suspect that PM Oli will reveal some hidden information relating to Dahal while addressing the parliament meeting. Such revelation which will remain in the record for ever will tarnish not only Dahal’s public image but also make other parties to support him. This must be a reason why Dahal has been asking Oli to step down. It is likely that Oli will announce his resignation after revealing the ‘truth’. No matter what Oli has in his mind, Dahal is sure to be his victim.
