Reconstruction in Bhaktapur kicks off

Bhaktapur, April 25: The reconstruction task in Bhaktapur began Monday by laying foundation stone for the entrance gate of Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Silu Mahadev Temple under the Reconstruction National Programme, launched by the government from Monday.
The Gorkha earthquake had damaged different heritage sites including the gate of Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Silu Mahadev Temple in the district.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Ananda Pokharel and Chairman of the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, Narayanman Bijuckchhe, today jointly kicked off the reconstruction campaign in Bhaktapur.
On the occasion, Stating that the devastating earthquake had damaged 800,000 houses in the country, Minister Pokharel said that the government has accelerated reconstruction task.He said that out of 14 most quake-hit districts, detail of losses in 11 districts have already been received and added that reconstruction task in Kathmandu valley has been delayed for lack of detail of losses.
Minister Pokharel said, “Process for the collection of detail of losses in Kathmandu valley has been initiated and reconstruction task will be start soon”, claiming that reconstruction task would be completed within next five years.
Similarly, Chairman Bijukchhe stressed the need of carrying out reconstruction task through users’ committee and added that different infrastructure would lose their originality while using cement and other construction materials in course of reconstruction.
Likewise, Parliamentarians Prem Suwal and Kedar Sanjel stressed that all should help in reconstruction task.
The Silu Mahadev Temple is going to be reconstructed at the cost of 55 million and the gate at Rs 3.39 million. RSS
