Let Truth Conquer
The Vijay Dashami Festival common to most Nepalis within and outside Nepal transcends all castes and creeds, ethnic communities and beliefs making it a national festival of Hindu Kingdom Nepal. At these times when the restored parliament has denied us this national identity, the nonchalance with which the lay people take the new secularism is observing the festival is enough indication of the actual distance between Nepali politics and Nepali beliefs. Democracy, after all, protects popular beliefs and does not impose beliefs on the people at large but that is exactly what is happening in Nepali politics. ... more

Maoist Chairman Prachanda in one of his many interviews says: "Constituent Assembly is useless if a republic is not forthcoming. Why vote? Why take the trouble to conduct elections? The statement reveals Prachanda and Maoists don't have faith in a democratic process called elections. They believe PEOPLE have already voted for a republic in April. How, may I ask? Former Speaker Damannath Dhungana, current darling of the Maoists, even says election for a constituent is regressive because people have already voted for a republic in April.
