Parliamentary committee orders for probe

Kathmandu, 24 June: State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the Federal Parliament has directed the Ministry of Home Affairs to investigate into the death of Kumar Paudel, a leader of the Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’-led Maoist party in Sarlahi district of State 2 last week, and submit a report to the committee within next one week.

A meeting of the committee held this morning issued the directive. Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa insisted that the member of rebellious group died as police opened fire in self defence while retaliating against the Maoist cadres who opened fires first.
